Etihad to launch subscription service for frequent flyers

The new service is called TravelPass and will be launched in partnership with Norwegian Braathens IT

Etihad Airways has announced that it is planning to launch a new subscription-based service for corporate and frequent flyers.

According to Etihad, the new service will be called TravelPass and will be launched in partnership with Norwegian technology company Braathens IT.

With the help of the new service, frequent flyers will be able to purchase several tickets at once. It will also enable Etihad customers to book a specific travel period instead of purchasing individual flights one at a time.

Through the new service, Etihad plans to provide its customers with more flexibility to book and manage flights. It aimed to make regular, recurring trips easier to manage and maintain.

Robin Kamark, chief commercial officer at Etihad told the media, “TravelPass will revolutionise the booking experience for corporate and frequent clients who will also be enrolled in our award-winning Etihad Guest frequent flyer programme.”

 “We know our corporate clients are time-poor and believe this innovative addition to our digital offering will improve the travel journey for subscribers. The TravelPass will be available on the Etihad website later this year to ensure a ‘seamless transaction’. It will also allow for changes to bookings without fees and will offer a pay-later option.”

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier is also planning to sell 38 of its aircraft in a deal worth $1 billion, as a part of its transformation programme.

According to media reports, Etihad will sell 22 Airbus A330s and 16 Boeing 777-300Rs aircraft to investment firm KKR and leasing company Altavair AirFinance. Reportedly, the Boeing 777-300ERs will be leased back to Etihad once the deal is completed.
