State-owned Ethiopian Airlines has digitalised its services to provide convenience to its cargo customers, the media reported.

The carrier launched a mobile app and chatbot-assisted shipment tracking services to provide better business experience and bring convenience in the process for its customers.

The mobile app launched by Ethiopian Airlines is now available for both Android and iOS. It is designed to bring convenience to Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services customers through a range of self-service features including checking flight schedule, cargo tracking and charter requests at the swipe of a finger.  The Ethiopian Chatbot, on the other hand, enables customers to access up-to-date information and track their shipment on Messenger and Telegram.

Miretab Teklaye, Director Group Integrated Marketing Communications at Ethiopian Airlines told the media, “As a customer-centric airline, we always seek ways to better serve our customers and bring more digital options to their fingertips.”

“The newly unveiled cargo mobile app and chatbot-assisted cargo tracking service will bring convenience to our customers, allowing them to access real-time updates about their shipments and to process their charter requests.”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the airline has cancelled most of its passenger flights since March. However, the airline came under criticism because of its decision to continue to China despite the pandemic, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan last year.

In the month, Ethiopian Airlines announced that it could lose around $190 million due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the number is expected to go up as we enter the month of May.

Last month, Ethiopian Airlines started operating Boeing 777-300 aircraft with a capacity of 50 metric tons per flight to Hyderabad, India. The carrier is expected to operate one flight per week.
