IBM announced the beginning of the operations of its first IBM Cloud Multizone Region (MZR) in Latin America. It is a major expansion of IBM’s global presence in cloud computing. MZR is the company’s continued investment in building on its existing data centres in the region. It is to accelerate hybrid cloud adoption and businesses to grow in cloud computing in Latin America. Especially during the time when companies across all industries are advancing their digital transformation plans as a result of the effects of the latest pandemic due to Covid-19.
The new data centre complex marks IBM’s ongoing commitment to help clients in Latin America implement mission-critical workloads with high levels of resilience in hybrid cloud environments.
Tonny Martins, General Manager of IBM Latin America addressed the media and said, “Companies throughout Latin America are accelerating their digital transformation, in order to be prepared for uncertainties and rapid market changes, and to offer the best experiences to their end customers.” He stated, “To continue supporting and accompanying them on this journey, we are investing and expanding our cloud infrastructure in the region, so that organisations of all industries and sizes can increase their capacities, having all the flexibility, latency and control to grow their businesses in a security-rich cloud environment.”
IBM has integrated with IBM Cloud Satellite with the Lumen edge platform to enable clients to harness hybrid cloud services in near real-time and build innovative solutions at the edge. IBM is also extending Watson Anywhere with the availability of IBM Clour Pak for data as a service with IBM Satellite. This will give its clients a flexible and secure way to run their AI and analytics workloads as services across any environment without having to manage them on their own
