Aerolineas Argentina resumes international operations after more than a year

In November, the carrier will add frequencies to ten international destinations

Aerolinead Argentinas is all set to resume its international operations after more than a year due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to media reports. The airlines mentioned that due to the restrictions, they only operated a few routes and flights.

The air carrier also announced that from November, the state carrier will increase its frequencies to ten international destinations as a part of its relaunching of international flights.

Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country, Argentina has kept a strict travel restrictions policy to minimise the spread of the virus. Due to these regulations, the aircraft has been operating at its minimum level for quite some time now.

But with the end of travel restrictions in sight, the Argentine government recently announced that it will lift the daily international quota, which only allowed a few international travellers inside the country, as long as they have completed the Covid-19 vaccination.

After making these two announcements, the airline started working towards relaunching its international connectivity and they are happy as the lifting of travel restrictions came in time for the summer season in the region.

Pablo Ceriani, Aerolíneas Argentinas CEO told the media, “We’re adding more flights to Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru because these markets are always willing to visit Argentina. Tourism is essential to our country’s economy; it creates new jobs and brings revenue the country desperately needs. Even if the international market takes longer to recover, we are generating profit on the route between Buenos Aires and Miami, something that we haven’t seen in many years before.”
