AirAsia’ Teleport introduces digital customs clearance for shippers

The new development has now made the Teleport Commerce Malaysia Sdn Bhd as an approved forwarding agent by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department

The logistics unit of AirAsia, Teleport, has secured approvals from the government of Malaysia’s customs department, to issue digital customs clearance for shippers that are involved in its e-commerce delivery services.

According to Teleport, the new digitalised process that was developed to replace the manual technique of counterparts will assist the customs department to forward all types of shipments with full accuracy through a faster and seamless process. Furthermore, the department can also assist shippers and receipts to fulfil their cross-border shipments’ requirements as Teleport is a digital forwarder between the customs department and consumers.

Digital Forwarding manager, Chen Wei Kiat, told the media, “We are excited to be providing customers with a revolutionary customs clearance experience. What this means is lower cost and faster delivery for customers from anywhere in Southeast Asia as Teleport services will be end-to-end. We are also digitalizing the process by using technology for the whole import and export experience to be seamless for both the shipper and recipients. Our technology is built in-house as we aim to be a digital logistics solution provider.”

The new development has now made the Teleport Commerce Malaysia Sdn Bhd as an approved forwarding agent by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Teleport has fully launched its delivery services in 70 cities across Southeast Asia in November last year.  The company also mulled to introduce 24-hour delivery and shipping services with a click of a button to any AirAsia destination.

The logistics segment has been hampered by the pandemic like any other sector.
