Germany-based DHL Global Forwarding has introduced an air freight charter to meet the global demand from sectors such as manufacturing, life sciences, healthcare and technology, media reports said.
It is reported that the charted which is handled by StarBroker, DHL Global Forwarding’s in-house charter team, will connect Asia Pacific to Europe and the US directly. The services embark on its journey twice a week from China to the Netherlands and then the US, and South Korea before returning back to China.
Thomas Mack, head of global air freight DHL Global Forwarding, told the media, “While some passenger airlines have resumed operations, the situation in the air freight market remains volatile – especially as belly capacity is still tight. DHL Global Forwarding’s top priority is to provide our customers with sufficient and reliable air freight capacity. Not only are the resilient, agile, and reliable supply chains of highest importance for an economic recovery, but also in preparation for the availability of vaccines and other essential medical supplies during the pandemic.”
DHL Global Forwarding is expected to start a new airfreight charter for Australia, as the country has witnessed a strong demand for imports of temperature-controlled and high-technology goods. The charter will fly four times a week and will consolidate goods from Europe, China and Singapore in Hong Kong before transporting them to Australia.
It is reported that South Korea’s healthcare products exports surged 26.7 percent in the first quarter, while pharmaceutical goods surged 52.5 percent. Furthermore, China’s medical device exports surged 28. 5 percent, which is more than a year earlier. The US, Netherlands and China were among the top ten importers of medical goods
