Previously, the UAE and Indonesia had explored the possibility of establishing a sovereign wealth fund as an alternative financing for infrastructure development or investment, media reports said. It is reported that the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), the minister of energy, the CEO of Mubadala and other high-ranking officials were expected to assess the proposal in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE officials are expected to visit Indonesia next month to meet officials of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and Sarana Multi Infrastruktur. Both parties will discuss the financial schemes, regulations and legislation for the establishment of the sovereign wealth fund.

The funding is expected to come through a range of investment funds from different countries, media reports said. With that, Indonesia’s investment flow will slowly increase to $10 billion, media reports said.
