G42, AIQ, Schlumberger partner to assist oil and gas sector

AIQ will be responsible for the development and deployment of AI modelling and supercomputer solutions

The Emirates’ G42, AIQ and Schlumberger have entered into a strategic partnership, media reports said. It is reported that the partnership will see these companies will assist the oil and gas sector to develop and deploy technologies such as AI and ML.

It is reported that the three companies will leverage these features as part of the deal: the combined domain knowledge in digital technology, followed by high-performance computing and cloud storage capabilities. Furthermore, the development will pave the way for the companies to launch top notch AI-based products focused on the global upstream exploration and production sector.

Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, Chairman of the AIQ Board, told the media,” We look forward to bringing together the teams’ combined Upstream industry expertise and AIQ’s AI modelling and supercomputing capabilities to develop and commercialize advanced AI solutions.”

AIQ will be responsible for the development and deployment of AI modelling and supercomputer solutions. Furthermore, the development will be carried out on the Schlumberger’s open cloud-based software platforms. While G42’s cloud infrastructure will be used in the deployment process.

Both Adnoc and G42 established the joint venture company AIQ. The company specialises in AI products and applications development for the global oil and gas space. While, G42 focuses on AI and cloud computing.

Furthermore, Schlumberger specialises in the field of drilling, production, reservoir characterization and processing related to the energy industry. The company provides technology and digital solutions.

The global oil and gas sector is still recovering from the impacts of the pandemic. However, uncertainty looms until a vaccine for the virus is commercially available.
