Nigeria startup Sparkle receives digital banking licence

The startup is also collaborating with Visa, Microsoft and PwC Nigeria to gain industry expertise

Nigerian startup Sparkle has been granted a digital banking licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria, media reports said. Currently, Sparkle offers financial and business support services to Nigerians worldwide. 

Its support comprises flexible payments, savings and analytics and control over finances and lifestyle. The startup is also launching a mobile app on iOS and android enabling swift access to customers accounts, different wallets and services. 

Diamond Bank CEO and tech entrepreneur Uzoma Dozie, told the media, “Sparkle will be transformational for Nigerians across the globe and I am hugely excited to be launching it today. Sparkle is redefining Nigerian commerce by merging financial services with a seamless lifestyle solution. We are removing barriers using technology and data, driving inclusion at scale. In doing so, we are empowering Nigerians to fulfil their potential, democratising access to valuable solutions for both business and personal needs.”

Also, the startup is collaborating with Visa, Microsoft and PwC Nigeria to gain industry expertise across domains including APIs, cloud computing, data science and machine learning and financial advisory services. 

In addition, Sparkle joined Women’s World Banking to further drive financial inclusion for women and their communities at large. It is also collaborating with the country’s financial services industry promote open banking in Nigeria.
