Singapore Airlines (SIA) will carry out a trial of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) travel pass mobile application for digital health verification. It is reported that the pilot programme will embark this month. The trial is in line with IATA’s travel pass framework and will be conducted on passengers travelling from Singapore to London between March 15 and March 28.
It is reported that iPhone users will be invited to download the IATA Travel Pass app. After that, they need to register themselves by inserting a digital ID and uploading a profile picture.
Furthermore, they can also enter flight details into the app. The users can book a pre-departure Covid-19 test through the app. The test can be conducted at seven participating clinics in Singapore, while registration can be done at the clinic through the app.
The users can view their test results through the app as well including the fly confirmation status. IATA’s Timatic registry will provide updated details about Covid-19 testing and entry requirements.
Nick Careen, IATA’s senior vice president Airport, Passenger, Cargo, and Security, told the media, “Our partnership with Singapore Airlines for the first full deployment of the IATA Travel Pass will help get the world flying again. In the immediate term, it is the solution for travellers to safely and securely manage their travel health credentials.”
Singapore Airlines conducted a trail of a digital health verification process based on the Travel Pass framework in December last year. The trail was conducted for passengers travelling between Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
