Japanese insurer Tokio Marine HCC’s enterprise Cyber & Professional Lines has collaborated with OneIT, a managed service provider, to launch insureds with data protection services. It is reported that the data protection services will include recovery for insureds’ data, off-site backup and multi-factor authentication. The company said that the threat of ransomware attacks has compelled small and medium-sized firms to re-evaluate their data security on the back of remote working in response to the pandemic. With that, the use of personal devices are surging.
A robust cybersecurity must be applied not only for safeguarding against attacks but also prevent any kind of immediate remediation following a breach. Furthermore, OneIT is providing disaster-recovery technology from Datto, a cybersecurity and data backup company.
The solutions provided by Datto are very effective to safeguard servers, files, PCs, and SaaS applications and help businesses reduce downtime and data loss. The multi-factor authentication will be taken from Cisco’s Duo Security.
Tokio Marine chief underwriting officer of the cyber and professional lines group Michael Palotay, told the media, “The single most important thing an organization can do to reduce the risk of ransomware is to properly secure remote access into their network. Over half of all ransomware attacks begin with unauthorized remote access to the victim’s network. Multi-factor authentication provides a crucial additional layer of security,” said Michael Palotay, Chief Underwriting Officer of the Cyber & Professional Lines Group. However, if and when a hacker gains entry into a system with sensitive data, it’s also imperative that you have measures and protocols in place to minimize downtime as a result of the breach.”
