Vodafone plans to embark 5G mobile network trails in Egypt’s new administrative capital due to its robust infrastructure, media reports said. The move by Vodafone is in line with the meeting between the Egyptian government where it wants to partner Vodafone in the communications and information technology segment. Furthermore, the new development expects to bolster Egypt’s ambitions for digitalisation and comprehensive development.
Vodafone has been involved in the communications and digital transformation of many regions. The company will look for opportunities to conduct 5G mobile network trails in the new admirative area which will be boosted by the presence of the Misr Informatics University, a top-notch university in the Middle East.
Vodafone CEO Nick Read, told the media, “Egypt was one of the most important markets for Vodafone global and played a major role in supporting digital transformation and financial inclusion in Egypt to achieve Vision 2030, adding that the Egyptian market added significantly to Vodafone’s global presence in Africa. It was possible for Vodafone Egypt to become the Centre of the African continent and lead the digital transformation with its expertise.”
The government of Egypt said that the country is interested in developing partnerships with international companies for new innovations and also supporting Vodafone’s global investments in Egypt. The government wants the companies with long-standing experience as partners for development in Egypt.
Egypt has been rapidly developing in the past few years, outpacing most of its neighbours in terms of development. The global pandemic has hampered the telecom sector like any other industry.
